Design and Communication Principles
Organization: Exploratorium Museum of Science and Art
Project: Design and communication principles
Role: Content strategy, writer, editor
I collaborated with a senior management team to identify and create the museum’s first Design + Communications principles document. The team agreed on the overarching concepts I proposed and the content I wrote describing each big idea. The museum’s guiding principles had never been formally identified or written before.
Excerpt: Embracing Authenticity. We have an overriding reverence for the real thing. That’s because we know that having direct, hands-on experience with authentic phenomena is a powerful and enjoyable way to learn. Our exhibits are built on this idea, but authenticity is deeply rooted everywhere at the Exploratorium: in our photography, the [exhibit-building] shop, and the language we use.
